Technologies and privacy

The main learning platforms at Royal Roads University (Moodle, My Media, Zoom, WordPress) comply with BC’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FIPPA) law. Students have the right to make an informed choice about using tools that do not conform with FIPPA legislation.

At Royal Roads, students are asked to provide a one-time response, consenting to the use of cloud-based tools as part of their learning experience. Their response is recorded, visible to instructors, and can be changed by students in their Moodle profile any time.

If a student opts out, the course instructor must provide an alternative assignment that does not require the use of the tool to allow the student to meet the learning outcomes of the assignment.
