Communicable diseases circulate in our communities. With awareness and information, each of us can take steps to reduce and prevent the spread.
Royal Roads University has established prevention measures in the Communicable Disease Plan to promote the health and safety of our students, employees, contractors and visitors. These measures comply with the Provincial Health Officer's guidance and instruction.
If you're symptomatic, stay home
Students, employees, contractors and visitors who have symptoms of a communicable disease should stay home to avoid spreading the illness. Symptoms of a communicable disease may include fever, chills, cough, sore throat, stuffy nose, fatigue, headaches and upset stomach.
Be health aware
Check yourself for symptoms of communicable diseases regularly to make sure you stay home when you're sick. Follow public health guidance and the recommendation of your health care provider. Health information is also available from Healthlink BC or by calling 8-1-1.
Mask use
RRU is mask friendly. Masks are not required at Royal Roads, but the decision to wear a mask or face covering is personal: make the choice that works best for your comfort and safety. Your choice will be supported and respected. Masks are available at the Welcome Desk, Campus Security, Recreation Centre, Library, Centre of Teaching and Educational Technologies and the Boathouse. See campus map.
Proof of vaccination
Proof of vaccination from communicable diseases is not required. The university encourages everyone who is eligible and able to consider vaccination to protect themselves and others.
Hand washing
RRU encourages frequent hand washing and use of hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer is provided in dispensers around campus.
COVID-19 rapid tests
Rapid tests for COVID-19 are available at the Welcome Desk, Campus Security, Recreation Centre, Library, Centre for Teaching and Educational Technologies and the Boathouse. See map.
