Can you explain the new undergraduate programs to me?
We are offering one of the most flexible pathways to a degree in Canada.
Designed for students directly from high school and those looking to upgrade their education and skills, you’ll find a wide range of learning opportunities through a variety of completion options.
Start by taking one of our three one-year undergraduate certificates:
As you complete 10 courses (each worth three credits) in one of these programs, you will earn a certificate.
You can stop there or continue to your second year, obtaining a diploma and opening a further option to enter one of our degree completion programs, and graduating with a full undergraduate degree.
How do I apply?
Find admission and application requirements on the undergraduate certificate program pages:
What is the deadline to apply for the September 2025 classes?
The deadline to apply for a Fall 2025 start is June 2, 2025.
You can find more information on early conditional offers and late applications in the on the undergraduate certificate program pages:
How much is tuition?
Domestic (Canadian) tuition rates are comparable to those at other British Columbia post-secondary institutions.
Tuition for a full-time, domestic student for the certificate program (2025 intake) is set at $6,500. Part-time students may pay on a per-course or per-credit basis. For example, the cost of one course within the 10-course certificate is approximately $650.
If you decide to complete additional years of study, including a full undergraduate degree, please note tuition prices vary depending on the degree completion pathway and program. Undergraduate completion prices are listed on program pages. View a list of undergraduate degrees.
Please note: there will be ancillary fees and RRUSA fees in addition to tuition.
Is there financial aid available for undergrad students?

Where and how will my classes be taught?
The majority of courses will be held at RRU’s downtown Langford campus. Other courses may be at the RRU Colwood campus or online.
Each undergraduate certificate is comprised of 10 courses, including one challenged-based course (think about designing solutions for real-world problems).
Each course requires 180 minutes of class time per week. Usually, there are three one-hour classes, or a combination of class time and tutorial or lab time.
What kind of class sizes can I expect?
The boldly different RRU undergraduate experience includes smaller class cohorts where you can take what you learn and apply it to real-world situations.
Bonus: you’re not going to be crammed in a large lecture hall here!
Can I live in residence on campus?
No. RRU Langford is primarily designed for in-town and commuter students. However, there are off-campus housing options in the surrounding area.
I self-identify as Indigenous — what support is available to me?
You will be welcomed and supported by the Indigenous Student Services team at RRU. There are Indigenous Peoples spaces on both our Langford and Colwood campuses.
I'm a prospective international student — what support is available to me?
To help make you feel at home, we offer special orientation events, both online and in-person, specifically for international students. We also provide immigration advising services, through workshops, presentations and one-on-one appointments.
How do I get academic accommodation for my disability?
Accessibility Services facilitates disability-related accommodations and programming initiatives designed to remove barriers for students with disabilities and ongoing medical conditions. Once you register with Accessibility Services you will be issued a Certificate of Accommodation. For more information on the process, and types of academic accommodations available, or to make an appointment with an Accessibility Specialist, visit accessibility accommodations.
Can I transfer credits from an RRU certificate program to a degree program at RRU or elsewhere?
Completion of an undergraduate certificate program will allow access to the 2nd year of studies within RRU’s diploma program (when available).
Where possible, our courses are designed to facilitate course-by-course transfer into other British Columbia post-secondary institutions. While the programs contain courses that are designed to be externally transferrable, the granting of transfer credit is always determined by the receiving institution.
Will my international baccalaureate (IB) or advanced placement (AP) be recognized?
While we anticipate the recognition of AP and IB courses/diplomas for transfer into our undergraduate certificate programs, details are currently being reviewed.
I don’t meet the standard admission requirements. Is there a way for me to qualify under your Flexible Admission policy?
Yes! At Royal Roads, you’re more than just your grades. If you do not meet our standard admission requirements, we may consider your education, informal learning and real-world experience under our Flexible Admission policy. The Admissions team will let you know if you'll need to send us more documents to support your application.
When will year two or a diploma option be available?
Students can begin the diploma options in business, environment and social sciences in September 2026.
What will campus life be like?
