During Earth Month, the Indigenous Education department and the Climate Action and Sustainability Team and friends are inviting you to a screening a short version of the film Yintah on April 16th from 12:00PM – 1:30PM in the Dogwood Auditorium.
This award-winning documentary showcases the Wet'suwet'en resistance to colonialism and a decade-long fight to protect their Traditional Lands from fossil fuel expansion. Yintah means Land to the Wet'suwet'en people, and this film is an inspiring testimony of Indigenous connections to place and ancestry.
A follow-up discussion session about the film will be held on April 22nd. Cherylanne James, Indigenous Education Coordinator will chat with Yintah director Jennifer Wickham about the film and key takeaways from it. We anticipate this will be a compelling exploration of themes such as Sovereignty, colonialism, systemic oppression, Land and climate justice. Register for the online discussion that follows this screening.
Indigenous sovereignty, resilience and self-determination are integral to climate justice and environmental movements. Please bring your lunch and join us in the Dogwood Auditorium on April 16th for this viewing of Yintah. Staff, faculty and students are welcome! Together, we can take a more holistic view and expand how we celebrate Earth Month.
