Meet Dean Robson,

I started my career in February 2000 with Coquitlam Fire Rescue as a recruit firefighter.

Achieving ranks of Lieutenant in 2012 and Captain in 2015. My specialty field within the fire department for 10 years has been an instructor for our Hazmat team responsible for training and coordinating our team to respond to all forms of hazardous materials incidents that pose risk to health, property and the environment within Coquitlam.

I work as well, training new Officers all over BC modern fire-fighting strategies and tactics and leadership approaches for new evolving communities and fire departments.

 Learning for me has been a lifelong plan,

  • Diploma Justice Institute Fire and Safety Emergency Management
  • Fire Officer Certification NFPA 1021 Level 4 Instructor
  • Incident Command System 100,200,300,400 Instructor
  • Incident Safety Officer NFPA 1521 Instructor
  • Fire Service Instructor 1 & 2 NFPA 1041
  • Occupational Health and Safety 1 & 2 WCB regulations.

Currently enrolled at RRU to earn my Master of Arts in Leadership (MAL XL) and a certificate in Change Management. My goal is to present my strengths and build on my leadership characteristics to understand how I can use the culture of the fire department to execute plans of strategy to implement lasting transformational change within the fire service. To learn with and from my cohort on new leadership techniques to empower, collaborate and create an atmosphere to encourage and explore new ideas within our profession.
