Are you ready to join the climate action, sustainability, and disaster and emergency movement? Join us for this discussion and networking event, where visionaries come together to discuss career opportunities and tips. We hope this event is a great follow-up to the RRU Climate Week.

Our presenters:

Kerri Klein who founded Shift Collaborative and will talk about her experience co-founding a consulting business. Kerri has 15 years of experience in sustainable community development, program development/management and designing/facilitating group learning and engagement processes. She has developed, managed and facilitated a variety of social change projects, both as an independent consultant and as a program manager with BC Healthy Communities. Kerri also collaborates with RRU on their climate risk assessment.

Glen Hoos spent the first 11 years of his career working in the not-for-profit sector, gaining extensive fundraising experience along the way. After three years as General Manager of a restaurant chain with locations worldwide, Glen joined the Down Syndrome Resource Foundation in 2012 as Director of Development and Communications, helping DSRF significantly increase its fund development revenues. In 2019, Glen became DSRF’s first full-time Director of Communications and in 2024 he added Sustainability to his portfolio of responsibilities.

Jason Humphries, MADEM graduate, who recently join the RRU team as the director of Emergency Management & Resilience. As the Deputy Fire Chief at East Sooke Volunteer Fire Department and as Assistant Fire Chief at Metchosin Volunteer Fire Department, Jason provided strong leadership for all activities relating to fire and rescue operations, public education and prevention programs, and emergency management.

Laura Heidenheim, MACAL graduate, Policy Analyst in Environmental Justice at Environment and Climate Change Canada. Over the last five years she has been co-creating and managing projects which are rooted in anti-racism, community building and education. 

Louise Pick, MADEM student, Junior Analyst with the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness (EMCR) in BC, where she began as an intern through Royal Roads University's internship stream. Louise brings over 13 years of frontline experience as a registered nurse specializing in emergency medicine.
