“Coming out of high school, I was interested in scientific research, particularly environmental topics. I wanted to refine my techniques in the field and through lab work, and learn about the processes behind scientific discoveries. I needed a program that would give me technical skills and hands-on learning. I chose the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science at Royal Roads University to jumpstart my career in environmental science.
The “can-do” attitude of this program made me more ambitious than ever. I am less afraid of failure, which has enabled me to try different things and learn more. It put my academic interest in science into a professional perspective by conceptualizing the use of science in economic, technical and social spheres, and founded a new level of self-confidence, which I believe to be an invaluable skill in both professional and personal spaces.
In the three years since I’ve graduated, I’ve accomplished things I never thought I was capable of. In trying new things, I’ve met interesting people and learned much about myself. I am excited to see where my newfound connections and skills will take me.”
