Developing an institutional OEP online self – assessment instrument
Dr. Childs received Internal Grant for Research funds for a project to examine the use of an institutional self-assessment instrument to benchmark institutional progress.
This multi-institutional, collaborative research project investigated how an institutional self-assessment instrument, adapted from blended learning, can benchmark institutional progress on open education initiatives and provide insight into promising practices and areas for growth. A literature review focused on institutional case studies on openness was undertaken. This informed the development of an OEP self-assessment instrument for use at the institutional level. The OEP instrument was piloted during a requested workshop at Networked Learning 2020. Feedback was incorporated into the next iteration and additional institutions were invited to use the instrument in their setting and contribute to the larger research project.
