The Royal Roads University campus is located on the traditional Lands of the Lekwungen-speaking Peoples, the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations. It is with gratitude that we have worked, taught and learned on these Lands since the University’s inception more than 25 years ago.
Royal Roads University's commitment
As part of our commitment to truth and reconciliation, we are working with partners to realize the successful repatriation of these Lands through a Treaty negotiation process.
Treaties are among the most comprehensive forms of reconciliation, the embodiment of living relationships between First Nations, British Columbia and Canada. They help to support strong, healthy, thriving communities, benefit Indigenous Peoples and set us on a clear path to reconciliation.
While we acknowledge that the footprint of the Royal Roads campus may change following the negotiation process, we will continue campus operations, remaining responsible and sustainably focused stewards of the campus grounds.
