World Café as Research: Method & Impact: Research & Support for Book
Dr. Agger-Gupta was awarded a Research and Professional Development grant for a project to create an approach to an inquiry method based of analysis of the World Café tool.
The World Cafe (TWC) is a tool for engaging ‘conversations that matter’ in organizations, but was not designed as a method for scholarly research (Brown & Isaacs, 2005). However, in over 70 theses and dissertations at RRU and elsewhere, students have created their own strategies to address ambiguities over how TWC works as research method. This project supports the development of an edited “handbook,” illustrating the epistemological, ethical, design, and methodological issues involved in using this dialogic group approach as inquiry method. The book will combine new articles with case studies from researchers from around the world.
