Videographer travel to Vimy Ridge 100th Anniversary

Dr. Bird was awarded a Research and Professional Development grant for a project developing documentary vignettes about Canada’s war heritage including the anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

This project funding will be used to support Dave Adams, Media Technician, to fly to France with Geoff Bird in April 2017 for the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. This commemoration promises to be one of the unique pilgrimages in Canadian history, with over 10,000 students travelling to the battlefield along with thousands of other Canadians. Dave will serve as videographer to capture footage for use in documentary vignettes about Canada’s war heritage in France and Belgium. In addition to Vimy, Geoff and Dave will film at a cemetery in Normandy where a graduate of the Royal Roads Naval College, killed in the Second World War, is buried as well as sites near Ypres, Belgium.
