Urban Biodiversity and Climate Change in the Americas: Materials
Dr. Ling was awarded a Research and Professional Development grant to explore the relationship between the deficit of leadership and the decrease in biodiversity as part of a larger project.
The loss of biodiversity is one of the major environmental challenges society faces in the modern era. Climate Change, another of the major challenges, has been the focus a concerted effort of a number of networks of local government. Many commentators suggest that this is in response to a lack of leadership at global and national scales. A lack of leadership is even more apparent for responses to biodiversity loss – and yet similar networks of action and local responses are less well developed. This grant request is to support the development of a SSHRC Insight Development proposal this Fall.
