Transformational Potential of Wild Foods

Dr. Low was awarded a Research and Professional Development grant to explore the interrelatedness of wilds foods to nature and local ecologies from a lens of sustainability.

The goal of this study is to better understand the transformational potential of wild foods. In their research, so far, Dr. Ingrid Kajzer Mitchell, Dr. Will Low, Eileen Davenport and Tim Brigham, have argued that the uniqueness of wild foods to nature and local ecologies makes wild food networks a valuable site for learning, not just about food, but also about our interrelatedness with nature. Together with the founders of the Local Wild Food Challenge, an international culinary competition and festival, the researchers are developing a case study to better understand how wild foods may be leading the way towards more sustainable food production and consumption.
