Shared Leadership in EDI Governance

Alejandro Campos-Garcia and colleagues received Global Advancement and Diversity Funds to hold knowledge mobilization events about Shared Equity Leadership.

Shared equity leadership (SEL) is an approach that recognizes that a fundamental lever for creating transformational organizational change is at the leadership level. SEL is based on the principle that transforming institutions to become more equitable requires shared or team leadership, in which multiple stakeholders (e.g., faculty, staff, students) participate in agenda-setting and decision-making (Kezar, Holcombe, Vigil, Dizon, 2021). This stance moves away from the leader/follower binary; capitalizing on the importance of the leadership of multiple people throughout the organization, not just those in positions of authority (Kezar, Holcombe, Vigil, Dizon, 2021). This project involves organizing three interrelated events, which consist of a discussion panel and two experiential sessions. The events will build the foundations to facilitate the adoption of the Shared Equity Leadership model approach at Royal Roads University.
