I discovered a love and talent for presenting and instructing I didn’t know I had.

“I chose RRU because I was looking to transition out of claims adjusting into a consulting practice that involved conflict capacity training for claims professionals, as well as dispute resolution within the insurance industry. While I had completed several professional development certificates, including mediation training, throughout my career, my experience at Royal Roads was the first to involve research, writing, and learning within a cohort. Notwithstanding my lack of experience, the resources available at RRU, including great advisory and support staff, lessened the fear of what, for me, was an entirely new learning curve.

Shortly after I graduated, I left my role as an adjuster to launch a consulting firm. My education provided me with the practical tools needed to do research, analysis and management, and the credibility that comes from having earned a respected, recognizable MA.

When people ask how I went from adjusting insurance claims to building conflict capacity for those suffering mental illness, and their families, I tell them my Royal Roads experience gave me the vision to expand my horizons, the courage to believe it is never too late to pursue a new dream, and the confidence to go for it.”
