Dr. Wafai received an Internal Grant for Research to develop a framework to understand the competitive advantages of small and medium enterprises through management and technological innovation.
The research explores the intricate relationships between management innovation and the adopted technological innovation. The research aims at developing a conceptual framework that explains the implications of such a dynamic relationship on the competitive advantages of SMEs. Competitive advantages are defined in this research as the ability to upgrade in global value chains (GVCs). The conceptual framework takes into consideration the position of a firm within a global value chain and the innovation system (IS) under which a firm operates.
