Reimagining leadership education: A co-inquiry into trauma-informed pedagogy, Indigenous cultural safety, anti-racism, and decolonization in classrooms and curriculum

Dr. Etmanski received an RRU Internal Grant for Research to fund training on trauma-informed pedagogy and anti-racism in the classroom.

Universities across Canada are grappling with how to decolonize our own thinking as well as our classrooms and curriculum. From November 15 to December 6, 2021, over 30 core and associate faculty and staff participated in a trauma-informed cultural safety course with Dakota and Anishinabe facilitator, Harley Eagle. Building on the success of this initial training, this grant will be used to offer a follow up training that zeroes in on trauma-informed pedagogy and anti-racism in the classroom. Dr. Etmanski will work with Val Cortés, Shawn Holmes, and Harley Eagle to offer this follow up workshop, all three of whom have expertise in trauma-informed pedagogy.
