Credit Card Convenience Charge

Due to the increasing cost of processing credit card payments, a new convenience fee is being implemented at Royal Roads University. This will be applied when credit cards are used to pay for tuition deposits, and program and course fees. This brings RRU in line with other colleges and universities, as an increasing number of schools are applying such convenience fees.

In order to keep an RRU education as affordable as possible, rather than passing processing fees charged by credit card companies on to students through tuition or fee increases, a convenience charge of 1.75% will be applied to credit card payments of tuition deposit, program and course fees.  This will take effect May 8, 2021. 

There are alternative payment options without the convenience fee, as it isn’t assessed on payments made by online banking, cheque or money order, debit card payments made in person and PayMyTuition.

RRU does not profit from the new convenience fee, as it is charged to offset the cost to the university to provide credit card processing.

There are many ways you can pay your tuition and fees:  through your financial institution, by credit card, by cheque (mail), or in-person (only, cheque, and Interac accepted, cash up to $500, NOT credit cards or Visa Debit). 

You can make a payment, see your account balance, download your statement of account, and find your receipts online by visiting MyAdmin.

Payment Methods

Online Banking 

Tuition payments can also be processed as a bill payment to Royal Roads University through most of the major Canadian banks.  
Set up Royal Roads University as a payee using your financial institution's online bill payment service.  Your six-digit student number is your account number.  Please note that it can take up to two business days to process online banking payments.

Credit Card

Credit Card Payments (Visa, MasterCard or American Express ) can ONLY be made though MyAdmin.  A convenience charge of 1.75% will apply.

Cheques and money orders can be made payable to Royal Roads University and mailed to:

In Person
Due to COVID-19, in person payments are not available.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

Tuition and fees payments from outside of Canada are available through PayMyTuition. PayMyTuition is an easy and convenient way for international students to make payments in their local currency from any bank and any country while accessing better exchange rates than at banking institutions.

Your tuition fees are due on or before the dates specified in the Payment Schedule for your program. Late payment can result in a late payment fee. Over payments and other credits will be applied to your next term or quarter’s fees, and will not be refunded if you have an outstanding balance. 

Student Accounts will do as much as we can to help you find ways to clear your debts with the university. It is your responsibility to keep your account current, even if you’re being sponsored by someone else. We reserve the right to withhold services or require that you withdraw from your program if satisfactory arrangements can’t be made to clear your outstanding debts. Our Credit and Collection Policy outlines the terms for payment of amounts owing to the university, and the steps we will take to collect on overdue accounts.

Overdue accounts will be assessed a late fee per occurrence, and NSF cheques will be assessed a handling fee per occurrence.

Major Project/Thesis Course Payment Option

Tuition is invoiced by course on the 1st of the month prior to the course start-date and due on the 21st of the month prior to the course start-date. 

Royal Roads University offers students the option to pay tuition and ancillary fees either in full each year or by the installment method (installment fee applies).

For Major Project/Thesis courses that exceed 8 credits and are greater than 6 months in duration the University also offers the following payment option:

Course Length Payment Option Examples
6 to 9 months Tuition paid in 3 equal installments, due 1 month apart, with the first due date on the 21st of the month prior to the course start date.

Course runs Oct 15th to April 15th:

1st payment due Sept 21st

2nd payment due Oct 21st

3rd payment due Nov 21st

9 to 12 months Tuition paid in 3 equal installments, due 2 months apart, with the first due date on the 21st of the month prior to the course start date.

Course runs Oct 15th to Sept 30th:

1st payment due Sept 21st

2nd payment due Nov 21st

3rd payment due Jan 21st

 *Please note an enrollment fee of $61.38 applies to the Major Project/Thesis course payment options.

For most payments made through the Student Accounts department, your receipt will be generated within two business days and sent to the email address we have on file for you. For payments made via MyAdmin, your receipt will be automatically generated and emailed to you. You can also view and print your receipts in the MyPayments section of MyAdmin.
