Projects on Dissemination of Research
Dr. Axe was awarded Research and Professional Development funds for multiple presentations at academic conferences to convey current research work in education.
Project 1: This research examined and documented student perceptions of openness as they engaged in an online graduate level courses in the MALAT program, which has openness and networked learning as key design principles. Taking a case study approach, data was collected using a survey. The findings were used in an iterative manner throughout the design and first delivery of the MALAT courses, and they were also used to assist CTET and inform student support by identifying support structures required for faculty and students as they worked “in the open”.
Project 2: Online learning and technological innovation gives students greater opportunities to work together in teams. This presentation discussed tools students can use to become more effective collaborators, thereby maximizing their learning experiences. More specifically, the discussion centered on the adoption of online tools to engage students and assist in the development of learning communities, and best practices for using online tools to enhance the virtual classroom.
