Trina White

Tourism & Hospitality Management

Trina White has a diverse background in the hotel business with more than 16 years of experience, including 13 years in management roles. She specializes in leadership, team building and sustainability in the workplace. Her career began as an adventure tour guide, before she moved into hotels. Once starting there, White worked in a variety of positions, from sales to conference services to guest service manager. White is known for her commitment to integrating environmental practices into everyday business. In 2010, Hotelier Magazine recognized her work in this area in a feature story.

Experience

Besides teaching at Royal Roads, White works as the general manager of The Parkside Hotel & Spa where she has been since 2009. Prior to joining The Parkside, White worked in a number of hotels and positions, including director of operations and sales at the Brentwood Bay Lodge & Spa, sales manager for Sandman Hotels, Inns, and Suites, and numerous other roles within Delta Hotels. White has also owned and operated her own restaurant for a number of years, as well as worked as an adventure tour guide. Alongside her work, White was elected as a commission member of the Shawnigan Lake Parks and Recreation board for five years, and completed one term as a commission member for the Cowichan Valley Master Parks Board.

White is also a certified coach through the National Coaching Certification Program and a certified Learn to Row Coach from Rowing Canada.
