Melanie Fugard

Business

Melanie Fugard is a chartered professional accountant. She has worked in several federal government positions, including as an income and excise tax auditor, a regional departmental accounting officer and the CFB Esquimalt Finance Officer. Fugard also spent over ten years in the Canadian Armed Forces and has had her own business as a fashion designer and wardrobe consultant. Fugard has served on several boards and committees, and has also served as the ethics officer for Maritime Forces Pacific Headquarters.

Experience

In her over thirty years of work experience, Fugard has developed a strong appreciation for the critical role that accurate and fulsome financial information provides to government, business entities, stakeholders and the general public. She has worked with individuals with vastly different levels of financial experience but has been successful in her ability to explain complex financial information.

Fugard has led teams that provide a broad range of services, including accounting, accounts receivable and payables, financial reporting and planning, payroll and human resources, procurement, capital asset reporting, risk manangement and performance measurement. She has enjoyed coaching staff and mentoring new team members.

Fugard is a Chartered Professional Accountant/Certified General Accountant (2007).
