Hrach Gregorian

Humanitarian Studies

Hrach Gregorian has worked on deep cultural and risk analysis in fragile states in Africa, the Middle East, the Balkans and in Central and East Asia. He developed professional training programs in conflict analysis and negotiation offered to senior members of the U.S. State Department, USIA, Voice of America, USAID as well as foreign affairs officials in Angola, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Nigeria and Thailand. Gregorian is a co-founder of the Alliance for Peacebuilding, the largest US-based membership organization of institutions and professionals in the field of peace and conflict management. Gregorian’s current research and publications have focused on complex systems dynamics and peace operations, capacity-building in fragile states, grassroots peacebuilding and energy and conflict.

 

Experience

Gregorian is a practitioner-in-residence in the School of International Service at American University and an adjunct professor in the Centre for Military, Security and Strategic Studies at the University of Calgary. He is a strategic partner for the Director of Institute of World Affairs, RESOLVE Inc. and a senior research fellow in the Centre for Global Studies at the University of Victoria. Gregorian is a distinguished alumnus of the Canadian Defence and Foreign Affairs Institute, a founding program director for the United States Institute of Peace and an administrator at the National Endowment for the Humanities.
