Experience

Cammie, having recently become a resident of Victoria, is enthusiastic about her teaching roles at Royal Roads and Camosun College. She is also pursuing a Doctor of Social Sciences at RRU, focusing her research on the intersectionality of creativity, sustainability, and Indigenous Knowledge.

Her dissertation explores how within Indigenous Knowledge lies a different view of creativity, deeply rooted in the Land, that can be applied to Western divergent thought, to form new pathways for problem solving and innovative thinking, in a similar way that Indigenous Seven Generations Principles propelled the sustainability movement forward. Cammie acknowledges the significance of Indigenous Knowledge, and when we look to the Land and her laws, creativity and innovation are unleashed.

Through this research, Cammie aims to shift the Western view of the Land, to create deeper respect for the Land with an understanding of living with the Land, not on it, contributing to the advancement of sustainable solutions.
