Royal Roads graduates take home gold, silver and more

Governor General’s Gold Medal
Master of Arts in Disaster and Emergency Management graduate Maia Foster-Sanchez receives the Governor General’s Gold Medal, in recognition for her thesis Hosting with humility; Timmins’ 2019 host community experiences – a timely research project that sheds light on how history can influence our reactions to emergencies.
Governor General’s Silver Medal
The Governor General’s Silver Medal is awarded to Bachelor of Science in Environmental Practice graduate Brynna Kagawa-Visentin, whose academic excellence, curiosity and grasp of complex, interdisciplinary subjects garnered high praise for her work around the issues of climate change and social justice. Her high academic achievement is also recognized with both the Chancellor’s and President’s Scholar awards.
Lieutenant Governor’s Medal for Inclusion, Democracy, and Reconciliation
The Lieutenant Governor’s Medal for Inclusion, Democracy, and Reconciliation will be presented to Bachelor of Justice Studies graduate Katelynne Herchak, who brought her experience as an Inuk and an Indigenous advocate to create new learning opportunities in the classroom.
