Royal Roads University will hold its annual Remembrance Day ceremony online this year.

Join university president Philip Steenkamp and the Vancouver Island Ex-Cadet Club Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 10:40 a.m. via livestream to honour veterans and those who died in conflict in the service of Canada.

There will be no public service at the university this year and the gardens will be closed to visitors, to comply with public health orders and guidelines regarding gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are holding a different kind of service this year, but we will keep calm and carry on, as the old saying goes,” says Steenkamp. “We honour with gratitude Canada’s soldiers, sailors and aviators who have served in conflict. We especially remember those who trained at Royal Roads when it was a military college, and who gave the ultimate sacrifice.”

After the online ceremony, wreaths will be laid in a small, private service at the cenotaph in the Italian Garden.
