"Royal Roads offers several innovative and applied climate action programs for those wanting to make a difference in a rapidly changing world, including the Master of Arts in Climate Action Leadership and the Climate Adaptation Fundamentals microcredential." - Robin Cox

The learning continues from Royal Roads’ Climate Week held in December. While the live sessions are now complete, we invite you to experience the session recordings, now available on the Climate Week webpage.

RRU's inaugural climate week explored a variety of themes related to climate action including:

  • Decolonizing climate action solutions

"I'm hearing in all of your words the necessity to proceed with holistic and integrated ways of being, knowing and doing differently." - Shauneen Pete

Featured speakers: Eriel Tchekwie Deranger, Clayton Thomas-Müller, Dr. Shauneen Pete, Chevaun Toulouse, Lori Saunders

  • Climate, complexity and relational accountability with Dr. Vanessa de Oliveira Andreotti

Grid of squares with two art pieces in grid. One features a tree and the other features "Hope + Action"

"But if we can hold the complexity, we release that pressure, we also feel the relief of staying with the unknown, staying with the paradox, staying with the tensions, staying with the contradictions from a very different space, and that is a space of responsibility and compassion that we would like to see if we can activate." - Vanessa de Oliveira Andreotti

  • Climate Activism through art

Grid of squares with a art piece in one featuring the words: stories are all we are.

"Having the arts as part of the science curriculum, of math, of everything, first of all it's difficult, it's not easy, but it's very possible and very important. It's necessary." - Bruno de Oliveira Jayme

Featured speakers: Dr. Bruno de Oliveira Jayme, Kl. Peruzzo Andrade, Damien Gillis, Laurna Germscheid

  • COP28 Expert Analysis

Grid of squares with art pieces placed on them. Several squares are filled with nature images.

"We all have to see ourselves as leaders...to take responsibility and accountability for moving the dial forward. Yes, in our own backyards and in our communities, but also in these larger ways. We push governments to do this. We demand that they do that...and that we listen to those voices who are marginalized. The edges of COP is where the most interesting, transformative, inspired, creative conversations happen. Those are not the political leaders. Those are the people on the ground." - Robin Cox

Featured speakers: Robin Cox, Leslie King, Julie MacArthur, Thomas Homer-Dixon

  • Climate Leaders of tomorrow

Grid of squares of artworks featuring a variety of nature images.

Featured speakers: Master of Climate Action Leadership current students

Climate change action is a cultural, relational and equity challenge. Climate Week sessions provide a starting point to explore and engage diverse perspectives for our collective response to the climate crisis.
