Hodson on impact of recent Facebook outage

Jaigris Hodson, Royal Roads associate professor and Canada Research Chair in Digital Communication for the Public Interest, spoke with Rohit Joseph at CBC’s All Points West this week about Facebook’s recent outage. She said, “…there were many people in the world, particularly in the developing world, who really rely on What’s App to stay in touch with friends, family, and work so for them it was like the whole phone line went down.”
