Classes move online in response to COVID-19

All on-campus classes at Royal Roads University, including residencies, will move online Tuesday, Mar. 17 until further notice in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Program offices will contact students affected by this change with updates and information.

On-campus residencies (two- to three-week study intensives) scheduled to start before June 30 will also move online. For residencies scheduled to start after June 30, the university will make decisions on whether to move online by Apr. 30.

“At Royal Roads, our top priority is student safety. We are working hard to maintain a quality learning experience for our students as they move to complete programs,” says Royal Roads University President and Vice-Chancellor Philip Steenkamp. “We continue to follow the guidance of the Provincial Health Officer and the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training. Royal Roads is ideally suited to make this shift, as a university where most classes are routinely held online.”

For Royal Roads employees, the university is examining work-from-home options and will provide more information soon. In the meantime, employees should continue to come to work if they do not have symptoms of illness and are not caring for a family member who is ill. All employees must implement self-distancing measures.

The university encourages students, faculty and staff to reach out for help if needed. Students can contact Counselling Services to speak to a professional, confidential counsellor. Faculty and staff can contact the Employee and Family Assistance Program.
