From May to September of each year, top-ranked applicants participate in a 12-week research internship under the supervision of Canadian university faculty members in a variety of academic disciplines, from science, engineering and mathematics to the humanities and social sciences. As part of the competition, there is a suitability matching process between qualified candidates and faculty supervisors for their proposed research project.

Eligibility

Qualified candidates are enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree-granting program at an accredited university in Brazil, China, France, India, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, or Vietnam. There must be at least one, but no more than three, semesters of course work remaining in their program.

Mitacs provides funding for travel and accommodation, food, a stipend for food and incidentals, as well as insurance and host university fees.
