Maple Leaf Myths: A film on the origins and uses of propaganda by Canada in the First World War
David Black was granted Research and Professional Development funds for a collaborative documentary film project on the uses and origins of Canadian propaganda.
This application aims to research and produce a documentary examining Canadian propaganda and its origins during the First World War. This vignette will serve three goals: first, as a collaborative project, it will contribute toward Professor Geoffrey Bird’s work in the War Heritage Research Initiative; second, the project will form the basis of a longer case study piece for use in SCC courses. Finally, the project will offer an opportunity to explore filmmaking related to communication and culture as a form of research output to benefit students and the general public.
