Investigating the impact of engaging in presenteeism during a pandemic on the wellbeing and health of equity-deserving healthcare workers
Dr. Jorgensen received an RRU Internal Grant for Research to study the impact of presenteeism during a pandemic on the wellbeing and health of equity-deserving healthcare workers.
Studies have demonstrated that presenteeism, or engaging in work despite being ill, can have serious negative consequences on employees’ wellbeing and health, and that this impact may be significantly worse for equity-deserving employees. Further, research suggests that presenteeism may be especially prevalent in healthcare, especially during a pandemic. This grant would fund additional analyses of data obtained from the PI’s ongoing research on presenteeism in the healthcare industry to investigate the impact of engaging in presenteeism during a pandemic on the wellbeing and health of equity-deserving healthcare workers. Further, it would support publication of one or more additional publications.
