Investigating the dynamics of healthcare professionals’ commitments during a pandemic and the impact on their well-being
Frances Jorgensen was awarded funding through an Internal Grant for Research on healthcare professionals’ commitments and their well-being during COVID-19 crisis.
This study investigates potential changes in healthcare professionals’ commitments to various targets (organization, co-workers, patients, profession) over the course of the pandemic, and the impact of these changes on their well-being. A qualitative longitudinal approach is being used to supplement interviews conducted in June 2021 (N=31) and March 2022 (N=29); this grant would fund two more rounds of interviews (October 2022, March 2023) as well as qualitative analyses and dissemination of the findings. Findings are expected to contribute to commitment theory development and to HRM practice in terms of how organizations can foster commitment synergies during a time of crisis.
