Moira McDonald was awarded Research and Professional Development funds to create recommendations to support of equity, diversity, and inclusion of women in executive leadership roles.
Less than 20% of current boardroom or company director roles are held by women. According to Statistics Canada’s 2016 census, it will take until 2045 for any kind of equity (pay, gender for example) in the decision making and leadership spaces. Our research on successful pathways to executive leadership roles for women in Canada has been garnering international interest. The findings reveal the importance of mentorship, self-advocating for opportunities, and education. The stories and insights from the 49 participants frame our recommendations for change. We aim to participate in the CBIE conference to continue working toward change in support of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
