This highly prestigious award recognizes student at each of Canada's public Universities twice a year for having presented the most outstanding dissertation, thesis, or graduate research project. This is the highest honour two graduate students can achieve at Royal Roads University.

The award is offered for nomination twice a year: one for the June ceremony, one for the November ceremony. All masters and doctoral students who are eligible to attend the upcoming convocation ceremony, as the first ceremony invitation, are eligible candidates. Students who receive a school nomination will be listed as runners-up in the convocation programme, featured in the next Roads to Research publication, and may be profiled on the research wall located on the 3rd floor of the Learning and Innovation Centre and on the RRU website.

The recipient and runners-up will be contacted approximately six weeks before the convocation ceremony.

How to apply

Awarded through nomination.

Nearing convocation these steps will be followed:

  1. Financial Aid & Awards issues a call for nomination through Faculty administrative managers
  2. faculty and associate faculty identify candidates to their program head
  3. program head puts forward one nomination to their school director
  4. school director puts forward one nomination to the deans
  5. the deans together will nominate the ultimate recipient to Financial Aid & Awards for awarding.
