Fleeing from fire
Dr. Slick received an RRU Internal Grant for Research to study citizen-generated wildfire videos, represent their essence in her own paintings, and examine viewer experience with the paintings.
Citizen-generated videos of their experiences of fleeing from wildfire continue to be generated and circulated via social media, and re-shared by traditional news media. These images, which offer a first-hand witness perspective of this type of experience, enable those who were not present to become second-hand witnesses to the event. Through my research I study the content of these videos and represent my findings about the essence of these experience in paintings. This research study will also examine viewer experience with paintings I create as part of my research.
