Film work on Propaganda, Canada and First World War
David Black used funding from an Internal Grant for Research to produce a documentary vignette exploring the origins of Canadian propaganda during the First World War.
This application aims to research and produce a documentary examining Canadian propaganda and its origins during the First World War. Entitled Maple Leaf Myths, this vignette will serve three goals: first, as a collaborative project, it will contribute toward Professor Geoffrey Bird’s work in the War Heritage Research Initiative; second, the project will form the basis of a longer case study piece for use in SCC courses. Finally, the project will offer an opportunity to explore filmmaking related to communication and culture as a form of research output to benefit students and the general public. This funding will add to existing RPD funds to help with licensing images and film as well as professional fine cut editing.
