Faculty Perspectives on Openness: Designing and Delivering in the Open
Dr. Axe was awarded a Research and Professional Development grant for research into the development and delivery of online graduate level courses at Royal Roads University.
This research examined and documented faculty perceptions of openness as they designed and delivered online graduate level courses in the Master of Arts in Learning and Technology (MALAT) program that has openness and networked learning as key design principles. Taking a case study approach, data was collected through focus groups, interviews and surveys. The findings were used in an iterative manner throughout the design and first delivery of the MALAT courses, and they were also be used to assist CTET and inform student support in identifying supports required for faculty and students as they worked “in the open”.
