The life of a faculty member who made tremendous contributions to the Royal Roads’ School of Business will be honoured in the coming year with a commemorative bench.
Dr. Steven Glover, who was an associate professor followed by associate dean with the Faculty of Management from 2007 until his passing in 2012, is remembered for playing a central role in the design of the Master of Global Management and the overhaul of the MBA.
Dr. Pedro Marquez, who started his career at Royal Roads at the same time as Steven, says he was really pleased to hear that someone who gave so much to the university would be memorialized in this way.
“He was a great teacher, thoughtful researcher and fantastic colleague. He played a central role in helping the Faculty of Management consolidate into a strong learning community and venture into ambitious program reviews and development.”
Prior to arriving at Royal Roads, Steven, a Victoria native, was a partner at Deloitte Consulting after completing a Bachelor of Administrative Science at York University and an MBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University. In 2008 he earned his PhD from UBC’s Sauder School of Business.
“Royal Roads gave Steve the opportunity to combine his consulting experience, education and his love of teaching” says Steven’s wife Victoria Pang. “He excelled at problem solving and used those skills to provide wise counsel to those around him seeking advice. He was always willing to help others.”
Pedro says though Steven is gone, his spirit remains on campus. “I constantly think of him and wonder, what would Steven do or say in this situation? His legacy lives on.”
Steven Glover’s commemorative bench will be installed on campus as part of Royal Roads’ A Vision in Bloom campaign, raising funds to revitalize the beauty of Royal Roads gardens and buildings.
