Faculty Learning Lab Workshop

Rebecca Wilson-Mah and Eugene Thomlinson received an RRU Buttedahl Skene Fund award to provide a workshop for faculty to learn about and practice design thinking, and develop a ‘Learning Lab.’

The societal challenges we face are not external to the decisions we make in our organizations and communities. Rather than divergence and the polarization of issues, the future requires collaboration and effective solutions.
Embedded in co-production processes, and in particular, design thinking, a ‘Faculty Learning Lab Workshop’ will provide interested faculty with the opportunity to learn how to use design thinking to create a ‘Learning Lab’ for students and community partners. We will develop comprehensive and inclusive solutions through interdisciplinary lenses, Indigenous knowledge, industry experts and community perspectives. Designed to explore applied problems with students and non-academic community stakeholders, a ‘Learning Lab’ supported by design thinking will contribute to knowledge mobilization, problem solving and decision making.
