Exploring the Use of Experiential Performance Processes to Understand the Lived Experiences of Young Adults with Cancer and Transform Cancer Care

Dr. Heykoop was awarded an Internal Grant for Research for the development of a research project that explores cancer care of adolescents and young adults to identify and improve overall care.

Adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with cancer represent 4% (~8000 ppl) of the population diagnosed with cancer in Canada each year; however, their unique needs are largely unmet by cancer care systems. Nevertheless, research indicates AYAs have a clear understanding of how their care could be improved and want to play an active role in doing so.
