Exploring the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on supply chains
Dr. Wafai was awarded a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council grant to research the response of Canadian companies to the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on global supply chains.
COVID-19 global pandemic has hit hard Global Supply Chains (GSC). It is projected that the disruptions to supply chains will persist for at least 12 to 16 months (Anes & Elise, 2020). The proposed research aims at building a strong and yet urgently needed theoretical foundation to investigate the following questions: 1) how effective have Canadian companies been in dealing with risks associated with the pandemic? And 2) how likely will these companies drive existing supply chain structures and governance to improve their overall resilience during and post-pandemic? It is anticipated that this research will provide important theoretical and practical insights.
