Royal Roads University is undertaking its first Climate Risk Assessment to understand, prepare for and adapt to climate-related hazards. The assessment is a critical precursor to future adaptation efforts by the university and is a priority identified in the university's Climate Action Plan 2022-2027.
Your opinions and experiences matter
Engagement is a critical component of the climate risk assessment at RRU. We've built in several opportunities to hear from the community. In June, the consulting team will convene a virtual workshop to introduce RRU staff, students and faculty to the process, timeline and invite feedback. During this 2-hour workshop, we will be asking participants about perceptions and experiences of impacts related to specific climate hazards (e.g., heat, wildfire smoke, storms, flooding, drought). Please register below to take part!
Workshop Objectives
- Build awareness and understanding of the current and projected climate hazards for Royal Roads University;
- Identify and discuss current and potential impacts of climate change on the campus community, ecosystems, infrastructure, and services;
- Gather diverse perspectives, lived experiences, and observations about climate hazards, and their impacts on the campus community, university campus, and university services; and
- Explore current resilience measures and emergency preparedness plans to address climate risks for RRU, and opportunities for action.
Another way to provide input process is by participating in a survey which is open until June 29th, 2024.
