The Eileen Glavin Bursary has been established by the family of Eileen Glavin to support students with financial need who have overcome a personal challenge.
Eileen Glavin was born in England to Irish immigrant parents in 1921. During the Second World War, Eileen enlisted with a Royal Air Force and was engaged in the top-secret code-breaking operation led by Alan Turing, centered at Bletchley Park. After her brother Patrick was killed in Germany just weeks before Victory in Europe Day, her father brought most of the family home to Ireland, but Eileen stayed on in England and married an Irish RAF member. After emigrating to Canada in 1957, Eileen worked at a variety of jobs, raised four sons, and once they were grown, she served the family of the Rebbe Feuerstein as a nanny, helping to raise eight more children.
