Engages students in the culminating research project of the program, i.e. a thesis of scientific study that involves the collection, processing, and analysis of data (or synthesis of existing information) in pursuit of testing a hypothesis, of a particular sustainable development issue or procedure; or a detailed and scientifically-based case study and analysis of the environmental issues central to a particular area or resource industry or a particular issue in, for example, toxicology, ecological sustainability, or technology. Includes conclusions or recommendations that offer guidance to the public, policy makers or managers on the relevance of the research, and how the research findings might affect policymaking or planning.
