This course is designed to equip students with a thorough and critical understanding of the principles, competencies and relevance of what it means to be digitally literate. Through the expansive curriculum, the course investigates key areas that will inform students of the facets involved in basic digital acumen, explores what is involved in being a responsible digital citizen, and dives into the common tools and technologies that are used to facilitate communication, collaboration, data management, and digital content creation in both academic and professional context. The course begins by introducing the foundations of digital literacy, and investigates the evolution of the digital world, and the considerations someone must have when navigating the digital landscape. By the end of this course students will have developed an appreciation for the ethical application of these technologies and their impact on society. Additionally, students will obtain an enhanced level of knowledge regarding common tools and technologies that they should leverage as a means of enhancing their academic learning, and professional journey.
