Looks at the phenomenon of and the response to crime in Canadian society. Examines traditional and new judicial approaches, such as restorative justice, related to prosecutions and sentencing, together with the role of the prosecutor, defence counsel, and the courts. Explores the organization and elements of criminal and quasi-criminal law in Canada, including the role of the victim within the Canadian Justice System and the special status of young offenders. Prerequisite: JUST301.
