Corporate Governance Best Practices: A Structural Approach
Dr. Lokanan used Research and Professional Development grant for a research project that studies accounting fraud by employing case study methodology to context of governance frameworks.
The world has witnessed some of the worst accounting fraud in recent history. A phenomenon that started out as an abhorrent from the norm later grew into regular corporate irregularities. To address these frauds, regulators implemented corporate governance rules to address the frail morality of the individual offender. A closer look at accounting fraud, however, indicates that they are the product of collusion and the responsibilization and individualization of fraud risk has led corporate governance rules to escape scrutiny. This project will employ case study methodology to look at the wider context of governance frameworks.
