The CFUW-Victoria Doreen Sutherland Award for Indigenous Scholars has been established to assist students who identify as Indigenous women, have demonstrated leadership or contributions to their communities and are enrolled in degree programs at Royal Roads University.
The Canadian Federation of University Women is a non-partisan, voluntary, self-funded organization with over 100 clubs, located in every province across Canada. Since its founding in 1919, CFUW has been working to improve the status of women, and to promote human rights, public education, social justice, and peace.
Eligibility
- identify as an Indigenous woman
- enrolled in any degree program
- demonstrated leadership or contributions to their community
- preference given to students with demonstrated financial need
- preference given to students who reside in Victoria, BC
How to apply
- this In-Course Award is open to students who are (or will be) active in their program on the deadline date
- pending the availability of funding, the competition will run annually from September 1st to November 1st (closes 11:59pm RRU time)
- applications are submitted online through MyAdmin. A full list of awards in competition will be viewable upon login
- address eligibility criteria for all awards in that competition one one-page essay with your name in top margin
