ARCPATH Knowledge Mobilization: Arctic Science Summit Week March 25- April 1, 2022, Tromso, Norway
Dr. King used Research for Professional Development funds to disseminate ARCPATH findings at the ARCTIC Science Summit week in Tromso, Norway.
‘Arctic Climate Predictions, Pathways to Sustainable Arctic Societies’ is an international research project that was funded by Nordforsk as a Nordic Centre of Excellence project. Dr. Jones was the only Canadian member of the team and was primarily responsible for Arctic governance, project synthesis and knowledge mobilization. The pandemic seriously interfered with knowledge mobilization and although the researchers are now in the last unfunded year of the project, they are trying to make up for lost time by taking advantage of as many opportunities for knowledge mobilization and synthesis of project findings as possible. One of these is the Arctic Science Summit week held in March 2022 in Tromso, Norway. The Arctic Science Summit Week (ASSW) is organized annually by the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) “to provide opportunities for coordination, cooperation and collaboration between the various scientific organizations involved in Arctic research. It was initiated by the IASC in 1999 and has evolved into the most important annual gathering of the Arctic research organization”. Dr. King will be part of the ARCPATH team presenting the research findings, recommendations, and implications for ARCTIC policy to the conference.
