Bree Claude is a Board of Governors member elected by students, with a term from November 1, 2024 to October 31, 2024.
Claude is the vice-president of customer experience and community partnerships at Civida, Alberta's second-largest housing management organization, which supports more than 23,000 individuals in Edmonton to access safe, affordable housing. Claude also serves as the executive director of the Civida Housing Foundation, Civida’s charitable arm.
With nearly three decades of experience in social policy and community services, Claude has held numerous leadership positions in the non-profit and public sectors at both provincial and municipal levels. Her past roles include director and executive director positions within Alberta’s Ministries of Human Services, Seniors and Housing, Advanced Education, and Children’s Services, as well as director of Family and Community Services in Strathcona County.
Claude holds a degree in Political Science and a Master of Science in Human Ecology and is currently completing her doctorate in Social Sciences at Royal Roads University, focusing on how leadership can enable conditions that improve community safety and well-being. Her work and research explore innovative approaches, leadership, and governance strategies that drive systemic change to improve conditions for individuals in our communities who are facing acute vulnerabilities.
Recognized with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Award for Community Service, Claude values active involvement in governance and volunteerism. She serves as a director for both the Canadian Centre for Safer Communities and the Boys and Girls Club of Strathcona County. Claude lives in Sherwood Park with her husband Shane, their two vibrant teens, Sloan and Nick, and their pets, Fishstix and Thundercat.
